School Site Council Membership Election coming up for the year;        2019-2020

What is it?

The objective of the School Site Council (known as the SSC) is to identify common goals and establish a plan to achieve these goals.  The SSC keeps its focus on establishing and maintaining a comprehensive and ongoing strategy to improve curriculum and instruction.  The involvement occurs through the development of a school improvement plan and continuous review and assessment of the plan. The SSC is composed of parents and school staff.  The commitment of a site council representative is to meet four times a year for about 30 minutes with other council members.  The public may also attend meetings.
School Site council members are expected to:
*Regularly attend School Site Council meetings (4 times a year.).
*Serve as advisory to council for revision or modification of
       school plan.
     *Share ideas and opinions.
*Assist in problem solving issues facing students and school.
     *Identify successes, resources and concerns.
*Help identify areas in need of change or improvement.
*Participate openly and work cooperatively with council

“For me, the best part about being a PTA member is…… I can make a difference in our children’s lives.”  — Mary Anderson, PTA Member

There are numerous parent groups out there, but there is only one PTA. Connecting families and schools for 120 years, PTA is the largest children’s advocacy organization in the country. Here are just a few reasons to join PTA:

PTA annual dues for each local PTA may differ from school to school, and help support valuable programs and services for student learning and family engagement. Many PTAs support academic enrichment programs, such as field trips or after-school art, drama, music, math and reading programs while other PTAs support events and activities that promote family engagement at school, to strengthen home and school relationships. Other PTAs support health programs, safety and physical education.

Your local PTA dues stay with your school site, and a portion is sent up to support the work of your council PTA (if in council), district PTA, California State PTA and National PTA. Please check with your local PTA regarding annual membership dues.
